After a couple of years of testing phase, and the successful start in 2017, FIM is proud to announce the 2018 calendar of “Adventure Touring” events, under the coordination of the Touring Commission (CTL) and the invaluable and essential support of National motorcycling Federations.
But what is it? They are motorcycles meetings consisting of tourist trips to be completed along routes with frequent stretches of natural roadbeds. The paramount goal is to help promote advanced motorcycling touring, enabling participants to appreciate the cultural, environmental and historical aspects of places and Countries that are visited.
This series is therefore designed for anyone wishing to combine technical riding skills with travel and discovery, increasing orienteering and navigation skills. The final goal is to create and develop an all-encompassing motorcycling touring culture.
The current season will see seven meetings with a blend of European and North American events. The organizer “Horizons Unlimited” will play a major role organizing, under the aegis of AMA and CMA, the north American part of the calendar, namely in Prescott Valley, AZ USA in April, in Nakusp, BC Canada in July and in Davis, WV USA in September.
In Europe, AMOTOE, a new entry in this discipline, will organize and host in June the MotOFFtour in the north part of Greece, in the city of Serres, while FMP confirms its September meeting with the Lés-a-Lés Off Road starting from the southern city of Porto. Then, with the authorization and strong support of the FMI, Moto Clubs OVER2000 Riders and Strade Bianche in Moto will organize the Italian meetings during the month of September, in Sanremo and Rimini.
Damiano Zamana, FIM’s Touring and Leisure Commission Director. “It is an fantastic to see the increase in number of events in the calendar, this year we have doubled the 2017 edition.
